Picture Book Originals (PBO) was
established in March of 2008 by Anna Johnson, a career book
publishing professional, as a way to make easily available
the original artwork and exclusive giclee prints from children’s
book illustrators to book and art lovers of all ages. PBO
brings artwork to market in three ways. First, via a web site
which allows guests to browse and purchase available pieces.
Second, PBO connects with book and art lovers directly via
phone, email, and post to present featured artwork or illustrators
whose work has recently become available. For very exclusive
pieces, this contact may result in an auction.
Finally, PBO is uniquely qualified to bring each illustrator’s
artwork and giclee prints to the larger public by creating
gallery events in partnership with bookstores, museums, and
other specialty venues. Extensive market knowledge and event
planning skill make PBO unique in the service it provides
to artists, collectors, and event partners.
For Artists:
PBO partners with the artist to select, value and market
works of art that were made in the process of illustrating
a published storybook. These pieces are recognized as one-of-a-kind
and, as such, are presented to potential buyers with the utmost
care and a true passion for what each piece represents –
an emotional connection to a beloved story or character, as
well as a beautifully realized work of art.
For Book Sellers, Museums and other Special Venues:
For booksellers, hosting a gallery event creates an opportunity
to sell books as well as connect with the community in a new
and interesting way. Museums and other special venues generate
on-site interest and excitement, adding great value to their
guests’ experience, by providing the opportunity to
view and purchase exclusive artwork from celebrated children’s
book illustrators. To create a unique, well-attended and memorable
event is the goal of PBO.
To preview available works of art, inquire about or schedule
an event, or find out how PBO might represent your work, please

About Giclée Printing
A fine art Giclée is created from the artist's original
artwork by first producing an extremely high resolution digital
image of the piece, then loading the image onto specially
enhanced printers that output the digital image onto fine
art paper or canvas. Since the digital image includes every
subtlety and nuance of the original – even the smallest
details of light, shadow and textures of the paint and canvas
or paper - the fine art Giclée is often indistinguishable
from the original work of art.
Images generated from a high resolution digital scan and
printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates
including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper can be reproduced
to almost any size. This flexibility offers the artist and
gallery many options to customize prints.
The quality of a giclée print is outstanding and is
now commonly found in the most prestigious museums and art
galleries.
